- The long anticipated Glastonbury
- Bid farewell to Hila at Grandpa's party
- Days experience at the Financial Times Weekend
GLASTONBURY was my first festival and despite initial fears concerning hygiene i embraced it, saw many great bands (personal highlights: Corinne Bailey Rae, the xx, Jamie t, Snoop dogg and Stevie wonder), had some pleasant conversations with strangers and even got invited back stage at Congo Natty to meet Plan B and Tempz. As the weather was broiling, tents were impossible so we couldn't hide in the shade and got all brown and working-in-the-fields looking; i returned joyously calm and dirty.
Next came HILA's send off to Israel, a day consisting of more incredible sun and an overload of brownies and bagels that left me lying on the floor for quite a while afterwards. As the time came to say goodbye i was reminded of having to leave her and go back to England when i was little and felt deeply saddened but soon cheered up due to an evening at Ella's watching Peckham's Finishing School for girls- a delightfully trashy but entertaining 3 part series.
A week later (after i'd disregarded previously mentioned work deadlines), i hopped on the train to Kings Cross and spent a day at the FT where i experienced editors meetings, sub-editing and a long discussion with lovely Photography lady who gave me a book of Judith Aronson's work and her email for future advice. The trip made me realise, once again, how difficult a field Journalism is but also that it's something i really take pleasure in.
And NOW, i am off again to stay with Sarah and Hugh for a few days- tonight is Christopher Kane's birthday party and i shall be attending!
